More than 180,000 US citizens have already had to leave their homes in the major fires in California. At least 24 people have already lost their lives in the flames. To alleviate people’s suffering, several American casino companies have already pledged help. Wynn Resorts, among others, announced that it would double donations from employees.
In addition, the company has provided the amount of one million US dollars, which is to be transferred to the benefit of the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Red Cross. Specifically, the Los Angeles Fire Department is to receive 300,000 US dollars and the Los Angeles Red Cross another 700,000 US dollars from the gaming company. Back in December 2022, we at Casinova reported that Wynn Resorts had confirmed the opening of the first casino in Dubai.
MGM Resorts donates 1 million US dollars for fire disaster
The billion-dollar gaming group MGM Resorts also announced a few days ago that it wanted to support the victims of the fire disaster in Southern California. Around three years ago, we at GambleJoe reported that MGM Resorts in Las Vegas had laid off over a hundred employees. MGM Resorts is also donating a sum of one million US dollars due to the current disaster.
Other gaming groups have also previously pledged their support. For example, Resorts World Las Vegas temporarily offered a 35% discount on rooms if they were booked by people who had to be evacuated due to the fire disaster.
In total, at least 24 people were killed in the fire disaster in Southern California. Another 180,000 people have already had to leave their homes because of the flames. It is currently assumed that the flames have severely damaged or even completely destroyed at least 12,000 buildings. The damage is already estimated to be in the double-digit billions. The Los Angeles County was particularly affected by the forest fires.
The Treasure Island Casino Resort is also helping those affected by the fire disaster. Here, those displaced by the fire only pay 79 US dollars per night for a room (approx. 77 euros) until the end of January. By comparison, a double room here usually costs the equivalent of just under 200 euros per night. In addition, the hotels are accommodating those affected with customer-friendly cancellation conditions. In order to prove the need, it is sufficient in most casinos and hotels to prove that you live in the disaster area (e.g. Los Angeles).
